About the SFPE UK Chapter

About us

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) is an international professional society representing those practicing in the field of Fire Protection Engineering.

The original UK Chapter of SFPE merged with the Society of Fire Safety Engineers to form the Institute of Fire Safety, which subsequently became the Engineering Council Division of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) (now the Registrants’ Group of the Institution)

The current UK Chapter was reformed in 2014 to act as a mechanism to advance the art and science of fire protection engineering and its allied fields, to maintain a high ethical standard among its members and to foster fire protection engineering education.

The primary mission of the UK chapter is to support and represent its members and those interested in Fire Protection Engineering. One of the main ways of doing this is to provide Continual Professional Development (CPD) and other training events.

Membership of the UK Chapter is open to all persons, including members of other chapters who are interested in the UK Fire Protection Engineering industry either by residency or work affiliations.

While not affiliated with the Institution of Fire Engineers, the majority of our members are also IFE members and further information on this organisation can be obtained from http://www.ife.org.uk/

IFE Members are welcome to join the SFPE UK Chapter as Chapter Supporters (see membership).
